Since the construction of the new cycle path along the van Harinxsmakanaal between Deinum and Dronryp, the mill and the rest point cannot be reached via this new cycle path. However, one can follow the current cycle junction or Cultural Historical Cycle Route to get to this beautiful place. Follow the brown information signs from the directions of Dronryp or Leeuwarden.
Dronrijp is located approximately 10 kilometres west of Leeuwarden in the predominantly open agricultural landscape of the Frisian Westergo. The historical centre of the village consists of two cores with the Reformed Church on a mound in the north and the former canal Franeker-Leeuwarden in the south as focal points. The oldest settlements are the natural elevations in the landscape formed by siltation (salt marsh ridges) where later, in periods of sea level rise, raised residential hills (terps) were constructed. Dronrijp is located on such a ridge or rime (= strip of land) formed between two tidal channels.
This cycle route is fully signposted with route signs 'Cultural-historical cycle route Menameradeel'.
